Default Windscreen wipers

Just failed mot on windscreen wipers not working at all. Garage says he cannot fix them. Something about a module. Any ideas or information please.

Did the garage put a 12v supply to the wiper motor to ensure that is working?

I had this problem a couple of months ago, wipers not working andf also electric windows not working. I drove from Reading up to Yorkshire to get Big Russ to have a look and he worked his socks off cleaning wires and everything but to no avail.

I decided to get on my back and have a look in the passenger footwell fuse box, something I have never been able to do with old age, but I screwed myself into the footwell and had a look. After looking and poking around I noticed an earth wire was a little bit loose, tightened it back up and hey presto, problem solved, windows and wipers working again.
