What makes a BBQ a BBQ?

I thought it was something that used charcoal or gas with lava rock or similar above as a source of heat to cook food. The fat dripping onto the "coal" to be burnt off and add to the flavour of the food.

On another form a lot of people recommend a Cadac Safari Chef

https://gasproducts.co.uk/cadac-safa...ihcaAh4A8P8HAQ

to me this seems like a grill.

What am I not understanding

I agree with you. That's just cooking outside. BBQ has to be burnt sausages with pink innards

An onion wrapped in foil and left at the back of the grill for 45mins, or a banana, having had slots cut in its skin so chocolate buttons can be inserted, then cooked for 15 mins.

And beer.

Meats of various sorts, sacrificed to the sun god, five times more meat for each person than they would ever eat indoors, and that one guy who wants the title of BBQ Chef of the Day!

In the early BBQ days, I would collect wood, burnt it off and cook slowly over the embers. Now we use a gas BBQ, but it is not the same.

A grill cooks with the heat above the food, a Cadac has heat from below, so the idea is similar to a BBQ, though not the same as a traditional one. Cadacs are popular with caravanners for cooking out doors, via a gas tap mounted on the outside of a caravan - though not that one, it is intended for a gas cannister. I cannot imagine a hiker carrying a thing like that on their back, as they suggest

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Years ago when I still enjoyed a beer we had friends over for a BBQ which became legendary. Glorious summer's day, I had my first beer around 12 noon while putting the gazebo up . . . . 4am the following morning I headed for bed while I could still remember where the bedroom was. The party was still going. Mind you, when I got up anything over and above simply breathing was a challenge!

Beer beer and more beer can't have a BBQ without beer.

or a glass of wine.
