Default Getting your dreams

Every now and then you see something on the internet that inspires you to reach something. Or to get something.

Same with me.
When I first saw a picture of Trebor's Rover 75, I fell in love with those wheels. I saw a certain type of potential in the 75 that I never thought was there. The look with big wheels made the car look very different to the standard 16" wheels I had. That picture of his black R75 with those awesome wheels never left my brain, and I wanted them. I didn't wanted anything else, but those wheels. Nothing else would do!

So I started looking.

And I looked some more...

And I looked a lot more...

But nowhere did I find those R36 wheels that Trebor had on his car. I found plenty, but they either had the wrong stud pattern or a completely wrong offset. I was forced to step outside of my obsession and look for "second best" in order to achieve a reasonable look.
And even though I eventually found the Interlagos wheels that have been under my car for the last few years (which gets many compliments) I never got over the fact that I couldn't get my dream wheels.

The rims that started my search for another look for my car didn't really stop. I kept looking every now and then. But in 3 years I never found the right ones.
Eventually I contact Trebor himself to ask him where he got them and if he knows what brand they are. After a bit of a chat I was offered to buy them from him.
After a bit of a hassle with sorting shipping, they eventually arrived at my place today. And I feel like I just met my childhood hero. They are even better in real life then I thought.

Next week, they will go to a painter I have worked with a lot in the past, and he is gonna strip them completely, sandblast them and paint them in a custom silver-grey with extra clear coat. Which is going to make them look brand new, making my car look almost as awesome as Trebors stunning 75.

Its like Christmas came early this year . It took more then 3 years, but I'm over the moon. These wheels don't just look like the ones that inspired me. They ARE the ones that inspired me. These are the real deal, the genuine article.

Lovely looking set of wheels, glad your dreams have come true.

I also like the rustic oak flooring, looks as good as the wheels.

They are beautiful wheels,

Remind me of the ones on an Aston Martin DB9

Thanks, I won't disclose that the floor is vinyl :P lol.

The wheels should be repainted, coated and completely cured in about 2 months. Which might be just soon enough for a quick picture before the winter wheels have to go on the car.

Just in case anyone is wondering, they are Omanyt Speedline alloys and they are available in both 18" and 19" 5x100 and 5x112 (which will fit with a set of adapter bolts)

They were used on the Passat (5x112), Golf R32(mk4), Golf R36(mk5), various Seat models (usually the faster Leons and Ibizas - Cupras etc for a while) and even some Skodas.

I believe the 5x100 where never made larger then 18 inch, and the 19 inch have an offset of 35 or lower as far as I remember.
These are possibly replica's, because they have an offset of 45 (from the top of my head) and are 19" 5x100.

Just in the interests of balance, l don't like that style of big wheel/liquorice strip tyre on any car & can only imagine them giving a very harsh ride to boot.

Ah well, horses for courses.

Glad you got your dream though.

it would look better (black 75) if it was lowered to close the gap between the arch and tyre.
