Default Tourer rear indicators losing colour?

Got my ZTT MOT'd today.

Passed OK and will be collecting tomorrow. But there was talk of a fail or possible advisory because my rear indicators are losing their orange colour. I know it would be an easy fix to use coloured bulbs but just curious to learn if this is a common issue?

Mine is one of the youngest ZTT's out there, built a day or so before the factory closed and seems strange that they picked this up - although I confess I've not seen my rear indicators in action as yet to form my own opinion

Is the seller an Osram Approved Partner? Did you check on the Osram list of Approved Partners on their website?

If not, how much confidence do you have that the product is genuine?

Fake bulbs? That's a new one on me but worst case is I've lost £9.

Upgrade Bulbs look kosher to me. Pretty blatent if they are not approved to be listing so many Osram items - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Upgrade-Bul...p2047675.l2563

Had a similar advisory a couple of years ago. Daft thing is, I fitted a pair of new orange bulbs the week before the MOT

Still have the same bulbs fitted and no advisories for two years

I wasn't suggesting that they were fakes, only questioning whether you were confident that they were not given their low price compared even to sellers like Amazon.

There are very few car parts/accessories that do not have poor quality fake versions on sale. Why would bulbs be any different to brake discs or MAFs?

Well the 'faded' bulbs have been recorded as an advisory.

Here's the BEFORE pic, looks amber to me. I'm keen to see what difference there will be when the new bulbs go in.

The silly thing is, when they called me, I thought they meant the lense colour was faded. Being still new to these cars I wasn't aware at the time the indicator is in the clear area with the reversing lights.

The left indicator in my saloon has gone almost white. Bright as anything but not amber no more. When I took the bulb out, the orange coating was brittle and flaked off, so the lamp was more white than anything. Compared to the right bulb, the left is much brighter. I'm surprised at how much light that amber coating soaks up! Took about 12 seconds to change though, but then I'd already pulled the fitting apart to deal with the busted gasket and the boot full of water.
