Default So many 75's & ZT's For Sale Lately

Noticed that a lot of members are moving on and that a lot of known cars are slowly exchanging hands.
It saddens me that these things are so cheap, browsing the classifieds and seeing some of the offerings from forum members.....

Firstly kudos for keeping them well looked after and for being genuine enthusiasts of a great car.
Sorry to see you all moving on, but it hurts me that some either get scrapped or broken up because no one wants them.
Obviously selling in a club is hard as anyone on here who has one probably wont buy one, most people will have bought one before they join here.

But regardless, its just so upsetting to see some of these things scrapped/broken or sold for pennies.
I HOPE they become a future classic as i genuinely love driving my ZT.

I looked for quite some time before finding one. I wanted a manual diesel Connoisseur that was 'tidy'. I didn't need anything special but didn't want starship mileage (and I didn't want to drive to the other end of the country to get one either!)

Too fussy? Took months and months looking and seeing several that were over priced dross before I found one.

Worth it though. I paid £925 for one with 100,000 miles and an FSH. Needs a T4 session to sort a few things out still, drives lovely compared to my knackered 200,000 mile old saloon.

It has also seemed very quiet on the forum just lately. They are a great set of cars but if you are not so good at spannering, they will probably be quite daunting to take on as they are all at least 12 years old now. Good ones are hard to come by but they do crop up now and then. With expensive maintenance jobs such as clutches, head gaskets or cambelts (V6), the cost can be more than the cars are valued at by the trade. As long as I am able to do my own repairs/servicing etc., I shall continue to be a Rover 75 owner.

It is sad to see the valuations drop and people moving on, I myself have a 1.8 saloon that I have offered for swaps, sadly no one wants the cars, I fear my choice will be to break it in the new year to claw a little of the money back.

I am currently abroad in a modern hire car, and really do appreciate all the toys and gizmos that come with modern day cars, and at a fraction of the annual running cost of the 75

I see why no one is taking them.

Sad but true

It is rather sad that they are dying out. To be fair my old moonstone 1.8 was a cracker but there was no interest here and it took a long time to even get £300. The present owner loves it. Of course it came with a bundle of receipts going back to its first service in 2000. I still wonder why it was so hard to move on. MFL was sold and easier with no history and in need of work that I wasn't fit enough to do, it was only £250.
I'd have another 1.8 if I was younger better off and fitter.

Cool

I'm only selling my V8 ZTT as I have nowhere to park it. What with a bus stop, double yellows and a school to contend with.
