just seen on TV
Just caught a bit on wheeler dealers about an AMG Mercedes.
they needed an exhaust but could not get one. Mike found a place that could 3D scan what they had and make one. Impressive. Is there a list of companies involved with wheeler dealers, I cant find a list macafee2 |

I think the companies they use in an episode are normally (quickly) listed in the credits at the end of the episode.
Probably need to pause live tv or record and pause! Regards John

And the prices that they quote at the end of their "project" you would struggle to get even with a trade discount !

As entertaining as the program is that is exactly what it is entertainment and not a true representation of how it all works. It seems to have got even more unrealistic now it is filmed in the US. |

Great programme, but Edd China must pay himself 50p per hour to turn in the profit they make.

I was just impressed by the 3D scanning and when all else fails, one may want/need to use one of the companies featured. No doubt the "free" advertising does them no good

Ah, but as Mike Brewer says in just about every episode "I’m a wheeler dealer".

My guess is you would not find such a supplier in the UK - but that is a hunch, not fact. |

I can’t remember what it was, but I remember seeing a programme where they wanted a wheel, and they went to a company that 3D scanned them.
They said they’re were cataloguing all the wheels, so there were 3D files of them. The scanner had something like 16 lasers in it and cost around £250,000. They’d scan the wheel, 3D print a sample, then use the 3D printed sample to make a mould and then cast it. Or use the file to CNC cut it out of a block. |
