V6 loss of low down power.
In the last couple of hundred miles, my car ( 2.5 V6 auto 46K miles)has suddenly felt sluggish at low revs. It happens in any gear, and is particularly frustrating when pulling away, or when cruising at low revs and it suddenly needs to cog down a gear when you increase speed a little. There is still a step iup n performance at around 3000 revs, so I'm not sure it's a VIS motor.
Any other ideas ,it feels like it's missing 30 BHP or do?

Hi Lewis, have hada problem with the fan ( repalcement on it's way from Jules) and strangely since I've kept teh air-com off so as to not have the fans ( that have obviously been struggling, if working at all) kicking in the lethargy in the lowdown performance seems to have gone. When the fan is fitted will report back, but just wondered if it could be connected at all!

Hi mate,
Just a thought , take a look at this thread from 'tother side'. http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=320933 If you have a bit of play in the accelerator pedal then do the simple mod that is shown in the thread. I could not believe the resulting increase in performance and believe it or not improvement in fuel economy. I have recently had fan issues with mine and over the week or so that the fan was not working, it did not appea rto effect the low down performance of the car at all. If it takes off at 30000 rpm and again at 40000 rpm the problem does not lay with the vis motors. Have a look at the throttle cable, bet there is a bit of slack there. Regards, Dave.
