Default Extra switch on console?

I need an extra switch somewhere, and I wondered if anybody has ever found a neat way of adding one - maybe to the little "wood" strip beneath the climate control unit?

Can you get different strips with switches in them, or any other ideas

Thanks

The panel under the ATC unit (finger plate) is for heated seat switches, cruise ECT and has cut out templates moulded into the rear of it. They are shaped for the OEM switches, you could possibly use a standard shaped switch for whatever your fitting, or cut a hole for another switch. The finger plate was/is available with up to 5 precut holes, you may be able to aquire one via our club traders which will avoid having to cut your original. alternatively, If you don't have a driver side cupholder, you can fit the switch in the blanking plate, it just pulls off and has a removable insert behind you can track wiring through.

Hi Ronnie, hope your well. I noticed you have relocated your door lock/unlock button to the finger plate. Where is your hazard light switch?

Hi mate, I'm good thanks 👍 hope you are too 😎 the switch is just a spare I had to fill the hole, it's not connected. I tried but cut my hands to bits trying to route the wires 😁
You can just unplug from the original switch and re route to the dash, but it's tricky

I'm having that dilemma now, just fitted heated seats and have 2 finger plates, one 4 hole and one no hole, so it's cut 2 holes or relocation of the hazard/door lock switches. The no hole one has been covered in leather along with the rest of the dash which adds to the problem. Dilemma of my own creation, or so I keep being told

So... there are switch-shaped "weak" areas, like in domestic plug sockets, which you can kind of punch through from behind?

How does the switch attach, when you've made the hole?

Cheers

Pull off the panel, it just clips on and off, behind you'll see 5 holes on the console. The switches push fit from behind. Easier just to locate a panel with the number of holes you need than faff about trying to cut them 😎

Its more of a case that the holes are marked rather than weak areas, you have to cut them out and clean the hole up with a dremel or similar. As stated its easier to source a panel with the number of holes you are looking for.
