Left the holiday lodge in Staffin on the Isle of Skye yesterday and drove the 395 miles back home with the odd stop to unseize my right leg driving the auto Connie ( the tourer changed her mind and didn't want to go by telling me her starter motor was going to play up on the night before ! )
The weather has certainly tested the car with the gales , snow and sleet all the way up the east coast of Scotland , across the top and down the west . I tried some Captain Tolly's around the recommended areas of the boot to cure the swimming pool effect and it stayed bone dry ! My only issue probably down to the soaking was the number plate lights going off and the message annoying me on the dash. First they both went off then by Fort William the nearside had come back on. Got to Luss and it had gone off again and the offside had come on. Stopped at Hexham and they were both back on and have stayed working today ! |

I just didn't want to cross the border back into England so I always take the long way home. The drive through Glencoe was as breathtaking as usual with the snow on the tops. Our eyes just could not take in any more of the scenery

Love the west coast of Scotland, Glencoe in particular.Last time we went through there, a Piper was playing by the side of the road. Sounded really haunting.

Fitted new spare wheel cover with carpet using marine ply. Took a while but is OK.
Tried to fix the boot lock using the screw method. All went well until refitting when the little circlip pinged off inside the bootlid! So now I have to source a new one, I'll probably get a few in case more ping off. |

I need to do that to mine. Just need to make sure I have sorted out the water leak first, have replaced the rear light seals, the boot rubber seems ok but it's been too wet and rainy to dry the carpet out so I don't know if I have sorted it yet. I know that water leaks into the boot are a notorious problem on 75s.

Serviced and fitted replacement window regulator to the 75 tourer, refitted the door panel correctly (had always been adrift along the top edge - one of those jobs I hadn't got round to doing before ) and repaired the interior door handle chrome trim.
Removed the rear lights and shelved the holed o/s unit. Repaired and reinforced the mounts on the n/s light unit (both screw lugs broken) and reinforced the lugs on the mint o/s light unit I got from EBay for £26 including postage. Renewed all the bulbs on both rear light units whilst they were out, applied Coppaslip to the retaining screws before refitting so hopefully next time they undo without drama! Didn't have time to fit the new MAF sensor, tomorrow looks like a wash-out so probably do that next weekend |
