21.16 mpg. This weather, local miles, short runs I am not surprised. Not had the chance to brim mine yet, the KV6, but all my miles are local because of what is going on in the world at the moment. Between 1 mile, yes I am bone idle, to do some shopping, and sometimes 4 miles or 6 miles. No further. Boring, boring, boring. Can not wait for a long run. The only longish runs have been to Lates600 for belt renewal and new brake pipes and lower engine mount replacement. Did average of about 33 mpg on the computer, so around 30 would be ok for me.

Have done two trips from SE Cornwall to Redcar since I owned Ken!
Fill up local garage across ferry into England. From A38 onwards all motorways
And main roads. The low fuel light came on just several miles outside Redcar
405 miles.cruise set to 65 mph.Happy with that.

Following your thermostat work I would also monitor the coolant temperature to make sure it's reaching the low nineties on your 7 mile drive.

Unfortunately I aren't able to change the thermostat (again) just yet due to work and needing the car on the road etc. It's still around 81/82°c. I understand that if the engine was running at its correct temperature, it would likely improve mpg slightly.

On a side note, the trip computer is reading out 23mpg on my way to work and back. ( I know it isn't accurate but more of a rough guide) but on my last tank full it was 21mpg on the trip computer and my range appears better.

I reset the trip computer when I fill the tank and the reset the trip mileage too.

When I do the thermostat I'm thinking of flushing the heater matrix as the passenger side heaters dont appear to blow as warm as the drivers side.

When I do sort the thermostat I'll keep a record of fuel used etc and see if there's a notable difference between the stat that opens too early and one that (hopefully) opens correctly.

With reference back to david75 (post 12)

On Saturday 4th January 2020, I bought from David the 2.5 Auto, which is the first car that he gives figures for.
David met me at the railway station, and I subsequently drove away from his house with a quarter of a tank of petrol, and 76,920 miles on the clock.
I was told that the car will remain registered with his Dartford Crossing account; for my return drive from Southend to Kent. Again, thank you David.

I first filled it to the brim on Monday 6th January, at 76,993, and have always filled to the brim since.

My highest figure is 32.93 mpg.
The lowest being 22.79 mpg.

The high figure was a short 55 odd miles on a near empty (early Sunday morning) M25, with Cruise Control set to70mph. The return 55 miles (later that day) was in heavy traffic, with stretches of stop start; add in 14 miles of local roads, and I’m certain that I’ll get mid 30’s on a long M-way journey.
To get these figures I filled up the night before, and then topped up, when 2 miles from home.

In the last 1 year and 3 weeks, it’s covered 2,047 miles. This will be closer to 5K, after travel restrictions are lifted.

Since October last, it has not left the garage, other than 8 – 10 miles every 2nd or 3rd week.

I anticipate a very low mpg result, the next time I fill up.

Mike
