Default Struggling removing bumper

Guys

This is a job I've completed easily a number of times on previous Rovers however my latest one has me stumped even before I start.

The lower screw under the wheel arch is proving extremely difficult to remove, it appears to be a torx screwhead , but I've tried both T10 (too small) and T15 screwdriver (too big) without success. Both sides are the same

I've also tried a few hex keys again with nothing fitting correctly.

Finally I've tried to fit a posidrive but again with no joy.

So..is there a specific size and type bit for these if not what are the options?

Cheers

Paul

All Phillips on mine You may have to drill it out if it's rounded off.

A pair of mole grips on the head to start it off may help if there's enough head to get hold of. Gentle back and forth until it frees.

Cut a slot in the head with a hacksaw, dremel or similar and use a flat screwdriver.

On my cdt they are 10mm hex head with a pozidrive in the middle so a 3/8" (or 1/4") drive 10mm socket will do them. On the 1.8T they don't exist... Doesn't seem that they actually do a lot in practice.

Are you talking about the bolt? that is 10mm and is easy to remove.

The screw appears to be torx and certainly nowhere near 10mm. I think they are T10 that have been chewed up, so 2.74mm!!

Don't think I've ever come across TORX head bolts on the wheel arches before. I've removed around 10 from different 75s and 8 were 10mm bolts, the others didn't have bolts at all.
It sounds like someone has put them in at a later date after finding the bolts not there.
As others have said it looks like a case of either cutting a slot in it and removing with a screwdriver or drilling it out and not replacing it after.
I do know you can get a special drill bit that digs into the bolt and then lets you remove it that way

Not Phillips - they are Pozidrive! A common mistake, and you should use the correct screwdriver to save damage to the head.
