This can make the system switch on --recirculation.

The same damp air in the car goes round and round.---
The moisture is taken out of the (in car) air by the air con system. That is what dribbles out of the two drain tubes under the car, near to the plenum drains.

I had the same issue with a ZT saloon AFTER solving leaks in the boot.
I traced the moisture to an inch or two of standing water under the rear seat 'bench' the water had been tracking through the boot.
After removing the water it solved the misting issues!

After draining the swimming pool in the redundant spare wheel well, I realised that it would "slosh" into the rear seat squab every time I turned a corner or braked hard. Mopped all that out but vehicle still mist up when my body-heat and breath changes the humidity. I've got one of those silicon bags on the dash but it appears to do SFA although it feels as if the moisture is being expelled from the silicon after having a 100 sec go in a microwave.

The only cure for condensation is heat and ventilation (or a dehumidifier!), assuming that the outside air is drier than the inside air! Air con should pull moisture out of the interior.

Oh yeah! I have my a/c on all the time when misting starts. However, I don't like warm cabins on long runs as it can make one drowsy. So, a/c off until misting occurs then a/c on. No recirculation use ever!
