Front oil leak on CDTi
Hi,
I'm trying to find the source(s) of possible oil leak(s), I cleaned the engine bay with degreaser spray, brushes and steam cleaner. While idling, I can't spot any leaks but I'm pretty sure the leak is on the front right side (power steering pump area). The problem is that it only leaks when driving ... I took the 75 for a 30 minutes drive, once back home, I opened the bonnet and took a photo There is oil on : headlight cap cover, wires under the cap cover, pipe, tie plastic cable I took a closer look at the HP pump and the power steering pump, they both look fine and I didn't spot any leaks from pipes. Underneath the headlight cap cover (really greasy/oily area) : The oil seems to be leaking from this area : Have you ever heard of common oil leaks right there ? I know that intercooler O-ring seals are well-known to be leaking but they are on the left side so ... If you need more photos, feel free to ask Thanks again to everyone who helped me in the last thread (https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=310241) Last edited by Leo31; 7th January 2021 at 23:59.. |

The hose in your picture looks a little worn just at the edge of the outer braiding

The oil mist seems to be throwing off the power steering pulley, so it maybe getting on the edge of the belt somewhere below, i note your intercooler O-rings have failed if that is the photo of your car.
As in the other thread you say they are ok ?

Yes, I thought this pipe would leak, I wiped it off with a clean cloth, it's a bit greasy (like everything in this area) but overall it looks clean. While idling, it's apparently not leaking.. Quote:
I took the photo from this thread and edited it to highlight the oil sprays area, that's not photo of my car. If it's coming from behind the power steering pulley, I guess I'll have to bring the car to my mechanic ... |
