On the Edinburgh-Glasgow push/pulls (class 47-coaches-DBSO) if you arrived even a minute late there was a platform inspector waiting for you wanting to know why.

I just keep hearing Ringo's voice

I did used to mould the flag and detonator cases so I do have a little input into the train world

Cool

Evening everyone

Trying out the Kraken spiced rum for a change.

The Air/Sea/Rescue and lifeboats have been busy tonight on the Tamar. Think someone may have jumped off of the bridge.

Only had to use detonators once. Engine failed, middle of winter, about 2 feet of snow and still falling. Opened the detonator box, white detonators . . . . 2 feet of snow and I've got effin white detonators! When the rescue engine arrived the usual move was to lift the detonators, couldn't see them, just had to explode them. Fun night that, pre cab radios, pre mobile phones, had to walk about a mile and a half in 2-3 feet of snow to the nearest signal to advise the signalman what had happened then stood freezing my nuts off waiting for the rescue engine.

Never forget that one. wasn't even my train, Motherwell driver who should have worked it was nicked for something else. I wasn't a happy bunny that night! Loco was diesel electric, (huge) engine turned a generator that sent power (about 2,000 amps at full power) to motors that turned the wheels. I later discovered what happened was snow had entered one of the motors, caused a massive earth fault which basically destroyed the power circuits.
