Slow delflation
One of my tyres has for months been slowly deflating.
Finally I have taken the wheel off to trace the leak. Water mixed with a fair amount of washing up liquid has revealed the tyre is leaking air from the joint to the wheel in........ 7 places. That's going to cost £30 or more I had this earlier in the year with both my motorcycle tyres. At least I found it quite easily. macafee2 |

£30.00 ! My local tyre specialist does it for £12.00 per wheel. The alloys degrade as they age.

Also £12 here. They'll remove the tyre, give the rim face a clean up with sandpaper and brush a film of sealant gloop (silicone?) onto it. The refitted tyre will then seal OK. This isn't a permanent fix because the alloy surface will eventually deteriorate again. Another temporary fix is to inject a latex type tyre sealant through the valve. Tyre fitters hate it 'cos they get covered with spray when the valve's removed.

Knock the tyre off, clean off the corrosion then paint the bead.
Refit the tyre, job done, apart from having the wheel(s) refurbished this is the best solution to the problem, as applying sealant goop over the flaking surface of the bead is a short term bodge. |
