Default Clutch :((((

Hi guys, I have noticed today, that in 5th accelerating hard the clutch is starting to slip. Now I know the parts for this on my cdti are ludicrously expensive 😱
At the moment, I will simply drive round the problem.
Im wondering if any forum members might have contact or knowledge of (more) reasonably priced clutch kits, for when it gets worse. Hopefully I’ll get a couple of months saving time 😊
Interestingly, the biting point, is not high, kicks in approximately half way of pedal travel.
Hoping someone can help.
Thanks guys

check DMGRS web site and even Rimmers web site. What do you think is ludicrously expensive as I don't think they are.

Will you be changing it yourself?

I paid £88.00 for a Borg and Beck clutch kit - they have gone up a bit and are a tad under a oner now on Ebay, so still pretty good value.

Default Clutch

That’s great, I will give them a try
I only say I thought it was expensive (to me) because I thought it was one which
Needed a fluid flywheel as well? And the complete clutch assy etc was 500+
As you can probably tell from my lack of knowledge, I definitely won’t be doing myself
Thank you for your response
Regards Steve

Did you change the slave cylinder too?

How long ago/how many miles have you done on your new clutch now?

We have the Clutch and Slave Cylinder in a handy kit - and they don't cost the earth.

Very few miles then! Hopefully it remains ok. I do about 20k a year, so a slave cylinder lasting only 30k miles for example, would mean a new clutch every 18 months.

most of my journeys are town journeys so there are a lot of clutch changes but in reality it is not the number of miles that is the problem, it is the number of times the clutch pedal is pushed down. Motorway miles are good, town miles are bad.

A new slave should last for years but I don't know if the quality is there
