Default Any Navall Guru's?

Hi all. I have managed to pick up 2 second hand Navall unit's. I was told one was not so good, the other was newer and barely used. I've wired it all in (except steering wheel controls) and it powers etc all good. It has the DAB system, wired in and works very well. I don't know if it's a 1 or 2 sorry

Couple of questions if anyone can help?

1) The unit has randomly shut down and rebooted when in use, it happened once on a long use and once on a shorter use, both times the Bluetooth was in use for music and a call. Using external mic, all working fine. It went into full start up asking about the USB and DAB boot default. All cables are secure and connected, it reboots fine and works. Can the Bluetooth be safely uninstalled and re-installed

2) Is there a way of checking the firmware etc and a safe way of resetting the unit back to factory and updating if needs be?

3) I have a 2001, so have the old style BMW big block loom. Where are the steering wheel control cables?

4) Play store settings seems to lose my email etc for Google, is that common?

Other than that, sat nav Igo works well, sound is ok (a little quiet), DAB is reasonable, music transferred to SD card to avoid Bluetooth. Any pointers or things I should be looking for?

Thanks in advance chaps.

Hi,

Not sure if this helps you but here goes:

1) No. As far as I know you cannot remove the app and install a new one. The BT is part of the firmware IIRC. Try and find your NavAll version and start looking for firmware. You will need it (now or in the near future)!

2) That depends on which NavAll you have. Can you provide or find which NavAll you have?

3) There are tons of threads concerning SWC and the color of the wires. It is usually a separate cable with a yellow connector and an orange/blue and orange/green wire. Search this forum section and I am sure you will find a zilion posts with photo's

4) Any misbehavior of the NavAll is comon I am afraid. I think you will have to be forgiving with it

As a bonus tip I can advise you to use the search function because all versions of the NavAll have been discussed at length. Most problems you encounter others have already dealt with. You just have to look for it

Hi Sean,

Have replied to your PM and will monitor this thread to see if we can work out which unit you have.

Cheers for that. It boots with the Navall.com shop screen and then to android, then to the Rover badge. It asked default Nav and USB (DAB). Then boots to DAB.

From Settings:
Cedar Model
Android 4.4.2
Kernal3.0.36+
C200
Sept 2015
MCU Version RK3188:OLS_T21E02_VO1:TY1.02

There's definitely an issue with the installed Bluetooth as it shut the unit again today after about 20mins of use (same as before) when it has been fine without any use for much longer journeys.

Is there anywhere else I can get a model or type without removal?

Home screen shows DAB, Music Player IGO Nav and a "ghost" Android symbol that works as a shortcut.

Could you provide a picture of the front of the unit? That might help.

By the way: it is relatively simple to partially remove the unit. Remove the eyebrow above the unit (remove the black clip with a flat bladed screwdriver, there are two gold coloured screws that secure the eyebrow), remove two screws that hold the unit and usually the device can be "wiggled" out. The looms are long enough to look at the back of the unit.

I hope this works...

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjV2WLFZiceyjSdz...JrNyj?e=e1LWLE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV4HOPqT3bE - Removed, it looks like this?? Metal fitting bracket, same display and that's how the settings look?

New issue, the music player has decided not to work. It opens, plays about 20 seconds and then silence and locks up. Music on the SD card. New card

I fitted it, so can remove it, but it's a tight fit

Beginning to think it's not worth it. I take it if I go to factory reset through settings, that would cause problems? Would that basically reinstall all the factory apps and settings?

OK, Progress So it looks like it is a NavAll 3. Probably someone over here should have the firmware. I can't find any post that links to a download location of the firmware unfortunately.I would suggest asking in the general forum for a better chance of success.

A factory reset can't do any harm regarding the condition the unit is in now. It will however probably only help for a short amount of time because the flash memory might get wiped but the programs and firmware basically remain unchanged :|

You might consider retiring the unit and get a new one. Because the NavAlls are (to say the least) not very good and reliable. xTrons are pretty good in my experience or you could go for a generic 2Din with an accompanying frame.

Cheers, some good help there, at least I can start again.

Reset done, it's binned the DAB app and I can't find another that is compatible oddly. Says its not connected.

Music App works, Music player on main menu still won't look at SD card anymore. Bluetooth will have to wait.

For DAB you can try: https://apkpure.com/dab-z-player-for...com.zoulou.dab

It is supported on your platform so you can download the apk, put it on a USB stick and try to install it. Haven't tried it myself but worth a try

Has it ever read music from the sd cards? Mine has never read from them and instead uses them as system storage for apps etc. I use the Usb ports on the rear of the unit via usb extension leads and normal memory sticks however mine is a more recent Android 10 unit but looks physically the same.
