Default Zt 190 brake upgrade

Hi, Quick question regarding upgrading the brakes on my ZT CDTi to "190" spec.. is it ok to just change the front or do the rear brakes need to be upgraded at the same time ? thanks.

for the 'full' upgrade, along with the rear vented discs (and calipers), you would need the appropriate servo too.

I only did the fronts (but refurbed all), and it makes a huge difference. The rears apparently do not a great deal by comparison to the fronts, so having the extra cooling, that the vented discs would give, is not really a necessity I felt (maybe if used heavily or on the track, it would be a different story.

Ok thanks. I thought maybe if only fronts were done I may cause an imbalance. Are the 190 rears the same size then but just vented? From the sounds of it I will get the fronts done. Sounds like a good upgrade. My front discs are due replacement anyway.

The rears are more or less the same size (they are slightly different but I cannot recall exactly 2 or 3mm ), but the rears do little relative to the fronts. Having the 190 rears, simply adds extra cooling to the disc. But since the majority of the weight (and drive) is over the front wheels, the extra cooling will have little benefit in normal road use.

Before you decide to go through with it, consider future costs. The discs tend to be around 50% more expensive to replace (granted you shouldnt have to do it that often).

Also make sure you have the correct caliper brackets for the front, as they are difficult to find, and are different. Hoses of the non 190 will work, but if you are replacing all, you may as well replace them too.

Overall though, I do believe good quality pads, and regular fluid flush/changes, the original and functional brakes are more than adequate.

You only need to do the front. No point with the rears to be honest.
It is an easy swap and very worthwhile.

I've never heard of the servo needing changing. I have the full 190 brakes conversion on my typhoon for about 6 years now, only had the calipers, carriers and discs changed. Has worked perfectly all this time. All 190 brake conversions I've heard of done only consisted of changing these parts.

The front brakes made a huge noticeable difference in braking power, the rears didn't make any difference from what I could tell. Only changed them as I had the full set of calipers and carriers.

well worth doing mod.

It doesn't need changing Rick, but if you want a little more then the 190 servo can help.

Lol, I find it difficult to drive one of our other ones after being in mine with the 190 calipers on, the braking on the standard brakes feels awful in comparison.
