Default KV6 not starting

First none starting issue I've had since purchasing the car in September 2014! Jumped in this morning and it started for a couple of seconds then spluttered and cut out. Since then I haven't been able to get it started.

Checked plenums, ECU is bone dry. Car is a 51 plate so shouldn't suffer from FFS. I jacked it up and changed the 2 rear wheels over yesterday, started it up for about 5 to 10 seconds to move the car on the drive afterwards and it was alright. I have checked the fuel cut off switch and it was indeed tripped, which I have pressed and it clicked. But still no starting.

I don't suppose anyone near Cheslyn Hay has a cam sensor or crank sensor I could try just to find out if it is one of those causing the issue? Upon a serious amount of cranking it did splutter and got to about 600rpm but sounded really rough and cut out.

Any other things I should be checking? Baring in mind I have never had any rough running issues on this car ever, until this morning it decided not to start. And when I say not starting, it turns over fine, but does fire up.

Quick video of what it's doing https://www.dropbox.com/s/pligh2in4s...08.47.mp4?dl=0

Exactly the same situation I'm in as detailed in another post.

Checked fuel pressure with a gauge - OK
Checked fuel filter, early type fitted.
Checked error codes with a Pscan, no engine related codes indicated.

So where do I go from here? If it's a failed crankshaft sensor, would this be recorded by the Pscan? Will I need help from one of our experts with a T4?

Just to confirm as Jamie says, the engine spins over fine but will not fire up.

first thing id do is disconnect the battery, reconnect and see if it resets the ecu.
Failing that id try the crank of cam sensors.
Only other thing ive heard that sometimes keys can become out of sync with the ews so it will allow the car to crank but not start but in those cases it wont allow fueling , so if you have fuel pressure probably not the issue!!

You can check that yourself Mike with the help of an assistant.
  1. Lift the rear seat cushion and remove the fuel pump access panel on the driver's side.
  2. Place your ear next to it whilst turning on the ignition.
  3. Do you hear the pump running for about 2 seconds? If yes, read on. If no, check fuel pump relay and wiring.
  4. Now with your ear still against the fuel pump, ask an assistant to crank the engine. Can you hear the pump running continuously? If yes, no fault found. If no, suspect crankshaft position sensor.

By the way, I recently had a misfire which suddenly turned into failure to start. I eliminated my crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. The fault was a defective ignition coil on one cylinder. I can't explain why the engine ran with a misfire one day, then failed to start the next, but that's what happened. I find with car diagnosis that too much theorising can be a bad thing!

Hi Jamie.
Have you not hooked it up to the T4 to see what that is saying?

So was the fault eventually found Jamie or is it still a non-starter?

Normally there would be some sort of conclusion to the story, or is that only me?

It just decided a couple days later that it wanted to start and has ran perfectly since, it was a strange one.
