Default Tesla lobbied UK Gov to raise petrol/diesel prices

Blimey! "Tesla has lobbied the UK government to promote higher taxes for gas-powered vehicles, or petrol cars, as they would say, as well as the proposed ban on internal combustion engine vehicles.

Over the years, Tesla has occasionally lobbied for electric vehicle incentives, but the automaker has always made its position clear about the best solution being to tax products that result in more polluting emissions in order to represent their true cost.

Now, we’ve learned that Tesla submitted a proposal to the UK government to increase taxes on petrol and diesel-powered vehicles."

love this bit , doesn't he realise we already pay

“Supporting zero-emissions vehicle uptake via mechanisms to make new fossil-fuelled cars pay for the damage they cause is entirely reasonable and logical. The result can be a revenue-neutral system for the government.

now to find myself a big v8

Maybe the should add in the costs/environmental impact of producing the vehicle in the first place......

And add in a statutory say, minimum 15 year, lifespan.

Well we've obviously not been paying enough fuel duty in this country
I find it Bizarre that a north American company would lobby our Government for higher fuel duties when they pay the equivalent of 30/- a gallon and pulled out of the Paris accord

Loved that bit.

I always though Governments preferred high income systems. Just work it out how much the motorist - buying a new car - will pay in duties and tax over, say, 5 years? It will be gobsmacking.
