At the moment my car needs a thoroughly good polish but that only shows up when I have my glasses on.

So for the moment it's going to have make do with a trip to the carwash, I know, not the best way but I don't have any choice on that.

After visiting the car wash;

I re-cleaned my wheels with wheel cleaner, dried them off then applied a spray polish, they now shine.

Still better than nothing, have to be realistic when cleaning otherwise you will always be disappointed! Clean wheels and windows make the car look a lot cleaner than it really is, so if you only have half hour to get it looking decent do those

Took me over an hour to do all four wheels, a long time I know but I have to sit on a stool these days and take a rest in between.
It was worth the effort, very happy with the results.

Absolutely and with some wax on they should be easier to clean next time.
