Sorry to hear that. On the other hand I wish I too had a car that could be undervalued by £12 000! The latest valuation for mine is only £400 which I consider remarkable as the car does almost everything I want from it. (Its not the one that won't start). It's also very cheap to insure and I want to keep it that way so will avoid any mods .....

I just rang chris knott about insuring the car and asked, if I sell the car and the new owner does no know about the modifications what would happen if they make claim?
Answer, they may not get paid out. So you have been warned. You may ask how would they know, take a tow bar. This gets damaged and is listed in the quote for repair. They know it as an after market towbar and note it is not declared..... they now have an out They also advised that the remap was the only one that made much of a difference a to the premium. The mods added about £40 to their base price but they could not get close to Adin flux. I will stick with declaring my mods. One extra mod not on the list, rear parking sensors macafee2 |

People sometimes do the strangest of things. Some years ago a member suggested a ruse to dodge leading questions from an insurer. He was obviously unaware that insurers can be members as well. He used a photo of his car in the post. Reg. no. to the fore. When someone pointed out his stupidity he became, well, unpleasant.

You should declare any modification even if it just changing something on the interior, if it makes your car more desirable to car thieves then your insurance would be void if they spotted it.

Winter tyres are also classed as a modification.
