I made some vegetable & pearl barley soup today for tea tonight with fresh crusty bread.
The cats have been catnapping on the bed in the mancave behind me whilst I've been driving trains for most of the afternoon & still fast asleep yet.

It must be the soothing sound of the Choo Choo's chugging down the tracks

Good morning all,

A very happy Christmas!

I am back home after 3 junior doctors wanted to give me a pacemaker. Their boss overruled them and said I did not need one. The consultant quite elderly and very experienced said my heart rate was back to normal.

The problem had been severe diarrhoea and food poisoning causing the vagus nerve to trigger off the heart. However he said I am anaemic and was passing blood in my stools in hospital, so I have been fast tracked to go back in for an urgent colonoscopy. The cardiologist told me not worry about my heart beating slow as there are lots of people going around with slow or fast heart rates. He said I should go home as there is nothing happening over Christmas.

He was quite annoyed with the junior doctors going on strike …….I can do their jobs, but they cannot do mine……...

So it was the consultant who had the experience and knowledge to tie everything together, he was quite reassuring.

I have cancelled our hotel stay over Christmas and will be spending a quiet Christmas here not far from the hospital. Yesterday managed a walk outside and do stairs without getting palpitations or breathless. I am fairly confident for the future.

Have a peaceful day and happy Christmas Eve…x.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the update and good news that the Consultant was on the ball and an unnecessary pacemaker installed !

Hope they get the anaemia under control for you.

Well done on the walking and stairs and long may it continue.

Onwards and Upwards for Christmas and for 2024 .
