diesel oil filters seals

the seals for the diesel oil filter .the small and little green seals you can get from BMW part numbers . 11 42 1 744 001 AND 11 42 0 006 836 and the cost £2 for both .the same from rover dealers cost £32 you have to buy the complete top

I've often wondered about those seals as they are never provided in the box , only the large 'O' ring is included and i only ever use the oem parts too so a

re they important?

probably seals the different "chambers" of filtered oil, and unfiltered oil.
