Default Buying and selling question?

Hiya all wanted too ask a question see how many would agree with me or disagree on this but let's just recently I've had a lot of flack.

Here We go.

I've been selling a lot of car parts I don't need and I've had a lot of interest, yes fantastic but till I have cash in my hand there still up for grabs for anyone.

I've had a few say keep them for me and I'll buy them, My response sure no problem, how ever I do need these gone asap as its cluttering up the shed and stated on my add I did say who ever gives me cash first then items go too that person.

Same day Other interest and he paid me straight away with no problems instant paypal.

Job done right.

Oh No just getting started.

Got tons of messages saying you should have kept these for me I would have picked them up and give you cash in hand and all this.

I think when people buy stuff I think they like too think they have rights too hold the items for sale and expect sellers too wait, well sorry I'm not going beeping wait around as I don't expect anyone too do it for me, someone gives you cash first then let'em have it.

I understand first come first serve bases, how ever till I have the money I won't keep them for anyone unless I'm in no rush too flog'em and I state that I'll keep it for them.

I've done this many times in the past waiting and waiting and even years later.

Personally I've done alright got cash for items and there going out of here which is great.

Talk about hassle.
people need too get a grip.

Talk is cheap Dave, That's just like the emails I get when I sell something on Gumtree, I don't even reply to them anymore, first come first served.

I agree Davey, if someone wants you to hold an item then they should make a payment (or a non returnable deposit) and then collect later.

Or make a plan, e.g. to hold it until the end of week. None of this holding indefinitely malarky (unless it's a noble and trusted member on here of course )

I held something for someone last week, then after a couple of days and turning others away, they emailed ''can't afford this now mate, the hoover broke'' (the hoover???!!!!)

Irritating.

I listed it again immediately for a tenner less to annoy him and sold it to someone else.

If I'm buying I pay as soon as I get the payment details - if I'm selling I try to send within one day unless the buyer asks me to delay posting.

Unless its someone you know well, and trust, then ask for a deposit first.

Nah, as said if they want stuff kept they leave a deposit or pay up front for it.

When I started working on guitars I got burnt, bought parts in for a job that never materialised, not a lot thankfully. Since then I stipulate either they supply the parts (I'll advise them what to get) or I make up an invoice for the parts and that's paid up front before anything happens.

Even with a deposit Dave you should say that "items will be held for 4 weeks" or something on those lines and state deposit will not be returned.
Most rights seem to be on the buyers side but sellers have to have rights/rules too.
