Default Mot.

Car due for mot in a few weeks, can someone tell me if the following will cause a fail?

1 All doors lock normally using the remote
2 The rear nearside door does not open using the remote or the button at the gear change.
3 All doors can be opened internally using the door handles.
4 Do i have to replace the nearside door latch.

I don't have a problem leaving that door closed normally and just open it from the inside for passengers. But will it fail the mot?
Going off for an hour will respond later.

cheers any comments very welcome. Firefrost.

Can't ever recall them locking and unlocking my car during a MOT.

I would leave it all unlocked when you give them the keys.

Thanks for your comments steve.
Does any one know whether the operation of the locking of the car is part of the mot procedure. Firefrost.

I believe you just have to be able to open and close the doors from inside & out using the handles.
Dont think locking is a concern.

Thanks Sidevalve for your comments. But the problem I have is I can't open one rear locked door from the outside except by opening the other and reaching across. This is no problem but will it fail the mot?

You have to be able to open the doors via the outside door handles as if you were in an accident how would people get you out?

I am almost certain not being able to open a door from the outside would be a fail.

Wait it could just be the little white connector inside the door that needs, adjustment, and the above price is way to much, purchase a good second hand working acutator.

If it wont open even when unlocked the I think thats a fail. I dont think you have to be able to unlock rear doors from the outside - before central locking was common you never could.

But definitely check that white clip as Artic suggested. I've done mine before and although fiddly its a very satisfying cheap fix.

Central locking malfunction is in itself not an MOT fail, provide the car doors can be opened from inside and outside the car.

As you can open the door with the interior pull this is perfectly acceptable, and once opened from inside, the outside handle works.

They can be operated independently, I'd suggest unlocking the car before you hand it over to be tested.

I'm sure one of the traders here will be able to sort you out with another door actuator at a reasonable price.
