egr deactivate question
Pulled off vacuum pipe and blocked it off,, car felt underpowered than with egr properly connected.
Thought this mod was for the opposite effect?

If everything else is working as it should unplugging it won't noticeably affect the power either way.

This mod is mainly to stop all that soot from the exhaust gasses re-entering your engine and causing problems later down the road. When I installed my bypass I felt no real extra power gains. I had it replaced as my car was chugging really badly.

Cheers so bypass is mainly a preventative mod rather than a power gain. Will just clean more often..

As said, EGR blanking is to help stop excessive smoke.
You won't gain any more power from it. For the cost of a blanking kit (very straightforward to fit), it's worth doing. If more power is what you're looking for, a re-map is the way to go. |

If the egr is full of gunge to the point where it's impeding airflow from the turbo, then just deactivating it won't improve matters - the turbo air is still having to get through it, you're just stopping the exhaust gases recirculating.
But it shouldn't make things worse. |
