seems a pity to lose the other functions. why dont you just ask someone else to cut the hole? Its easy when you see it in front of you...

Thought that the labelling could be removed and new transfers be added?

Option two - use the cruise switches but rotated so they fit the volume control hole, and again reapply the lettering.

Option three - is the rear part of the wheel removable so that I could replace it from the wheel I have with the cruise switches in?

Option four - try and cut the hole out. If (when!) I make a mess of it then look again at option three.

What d'ya think?

It's easy to fit the CC switches.

Firstly take the steering wheel off. Remove the audio switches. Then hold a picece of card on the outside od the wheel and draw round the audio switch cut out. Make a couple of marks where the facing edge is. Cut it out.

Now on the CC side, put two or three strips of masking tape and use your new template to mark the masking tape. Don't forget to get the template the right way round as the cut out isn't symetrical.

Using a new blade in your knife, cut lightly over the line. The plastic is too thick to do it accurately in one go. Also cut a couple of mm inside the line. You can always shave a touch more off.

You'll find that the switches fit over the edge of the steering wheel, so you won't see the cut edge.

I did mine in about 20 minutes once the wheel was off.

Thanks Greeners,

I was thinking that I'd need to use a dremmel or similar, but if its a knife job, surely even I could not get this wrong!

If all the kit arrived this week I may have a go on Sunday.

It's just thick polythene......don't try and cut through in one go. Just keep scoring it until it's thin enough to cut.

You can change the back of the wheel its secured by two star type fastners and a few clips not the easiest of jobs but perfectly possible.
Although I would tend to go with the option of cutting out the back of the wheel. Take your time and you shouldn't have a problem the cutout doesn't have to be too precise ( within a 1mm or two) as the switch covers the cut-out.
