When we returned to Nairobi, I stopped my subscription to cable TV and bought a smart TV which enabled us to get TV programmes from anywhere in the world including the UK.

For the installation I am not a geek and got TV / internet engineers in to boost the WiFi signal and to wire in the Ethernet cable to the TV upstairs.

I still pay for a television licence in the UK and using a VPN, I am able to use the BBC and ITV.

We now have Netflix and Prime which we do have to pay for and there is always something to watch on YouTube.

Last night we watched Poirot and Heartbeat.

I have not been able to access Freeview in the UK, but still learning about these things.

Following your experience and post Steve, thank you

I have just double checked my UK phone and internet contract which still has 13 months left on it to run at £22.49 per month (Plusnet)

By coincidence Plusnet emailed yesterday saying due to rising costs, they are increasing the monthly fee by £3.30. I wonder how they arrive with these magical figures, why not just round it off to £3. But what do I know

It is said…….

“If you watch the pennies, the pounds look after themselves”.

Have a great weekend
I shall hand in my notice, and hopefully they will give me a better price,I did read somewhere,BT Sports have sold out to Discovery Channel who also own Eurosport

Our phones are Tesco Mobile, they have not advised of any price changes as yet

The pennies are doing well at the moment, especially with the interest rates rising,a nice little earner dropping into the bank account each month.

They are a joke quango organisation that's for sure.

Another flight of fancy was/is the proposal to build a visitor centre at the Acle Bridge. Knocking down Dunes Cafe and building a great big glass structure on the site.
What a sensible place to build such a thing!

I believe the planning permission is still ongoing for that one

Morning all, A grey day out there & feeling colder. Looks like a shopping day again as the cupboards are looking bare of essentials.

I sold my boat around 2003 after several seasons of poor weather! It wasn't getting used and the boatyard fees became ridiculous, after the yard was taken over by a large company. Same yard, same facilities but much higher fees. Most of the owners sold their boats at that time. The new owners got quite upset that I had sold the boat myself! (even tried to claim a fee!) If we need one now, we just hire one.

Don't talk to me about planning permission! I got stitched up when I applied to build houses on my ex haulage yard. Permission refused. Sold the land on to someone who knew someone and ............. permission granted!
