CDTi sluggish acceleration at +3000 rpm
Have recently started to experience poor acceleration with my 2.0 CDTi (2004, 60k miles) - really only noticeable at above about 3000 r.p.m.when it seems to run out of grunt. It will continue to accelerate but very sluggishly. This is more of an issue starting off in first gear when, for example, trying to feed onto an island or from the acceleration lane onto a motorway. As befits a mature 75 owner I normally drive fairly sedately and cruising in 5th gear at around legal limits (!) and for normal motorway overtaking it is never a issue. Starting and idling is never a problem.
Last year at about 50k it became very lumpy and had a tendency to idle badly or even stall (i.e. different symptons to this time) so a local mechanic had the injectors tested. I understand that on removal one had some carbon deposits. This was cleaned and after testing (everything OK) and refitting the car ran perfectly. Any advice om my current problem would be appreciated. |

Maf Sensor.....
Try Ignition Car Parts, an insert is around £100.00 including a refunded surcharge on your old one. Kind regards A

Thanks for the replies.
'Fraid Im not really familiar with the MAF - how do I get at it and is there any way I can test it? However, I seem to have read on one (or more?) of the threads that a MAF problem gives poor acceleration below 2000 rpm. Mine seems OK at these revs. |

The MAF lives next to (left under cover) your oil filler pipe, just unplug it's lil plug and see if that helps...

Myself would check MAF by disconnecting it first to see if things improve. Thought it mostly does it work at the lower revs up to 2000rpm.
Also would check if the EGR is not clogged and the O-rings at the intercooler are ok (no oil behind left hand light) to make sure the engine still gets full turbo charged, before starting to buy parts. Rob

my CDT accelerates good from 2000-3200rpm in 2nd gear u can really feel it pulling, then it feels like its not pulling at all from 3200 - 3700 (feels like clutch is slipping, though its not (probably) )RPMS keep going up & the speedometer keeps going up at that time too, is this normal? also the acceleration under first gear is awful driving slowly without touching the accelerator then slowly flooring it, it feels like it stumbles at times, 2nd gear is much better at the same rpms, car burns 6.1L/100km so i don't think its an injector issue, MAF was supposidly changed by the last owner not too long ago i thinks its a bosch, no ideling issues whatsoever

Check also the orings for the intercooler, and the hoses (large ones) feeding the top of the engine at the front right for swelling / pin holes. you may be loosing boost pressure. The EGR (engine gas return) valve may also be sooted up, a search on the site will help you identify and clean these parts...

Click the link below and see if you have the same problem http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=108032 PS also if you do need a new MAF you can opt for just the insert from below, I would not purchase just the insert from anywhere else. http://www.maf-shop.com/product_info...621433566.html If you prefer the whole unit then this is the one below.
