This is almost certainly the issue.

My thinking now is you are right. The permanent live is not doing anything. I do not know what the aux harness is for, but if it is an aux harness, I imagine the aux cable it is connected to, is an 'output' cable, ie sending a signal to an auxiliary device.

I would be offering to come look at it, but am blocked out at the minute with (stupid ) little things, between home and work. What I would suggest now, is to get one of THESE things, if you dont already have one, and put 2 choc blocks onto it (power, and speakers). Remove the stereo, and start again.

Check on the body of the stereo for wiring diagram. Hopefully there will be one to identify the colours.

Take it step by step, using only the main plug from the stereo, separate the wires to power and speakers - forget everything else . Join them with a choc block to the adapter above, and try that. (I suspect some of the wires in the main loom will be for steering wheel controls that I dont think you will not be able to use). This will be the point where you can swap yellow and red wires too, to check the memory saving status.

Once you get the stereo working at a basic level, then look at connecting any addons, illumination wiring, DAB, reversing camera, amplifier etc.

Again you probably have done this many times by now lol, but I think you will need to take it to this point.

Right, sorry, me using the wrong terminology again. I’m just calling it an auxiliary socket as I can't think of a better name. What it has is rear camera, steering wheel, amp, illumi, +12V switched and permanent, handbrake, front camera, video in, and various speaker options including sub.

I’ve emailed Erisin again, telling them I really need them to help me with this, or I’ll send it back. Fortunately I paid with Paypal, and they normally take the purchaser’s side in cases like this, I’ve found.

I have been trying to look up wiring diagrams, and found one that reads to be similar to what you are describing (at least in terms of complexity and awkwardness lol)

But whilst typing and thinking, I found THIS on ebay. The image at the back, suggests there is a wiring diagram on the rear of the stereo.

the first image above may give you clues, but I would remove the stereo, and check out the wiring diagram. At this point, i am beginning to think you may have been sent an adapter for a BMW, so I would ignore the supplied adapter plugs, cut and hard wire the relevant wires into an ISO plug.

Yeah that's kind of similar, but you see that big "Special 40 pin Harness (18)"? That's the one where all the ISO connections go to, and of course none of its pins are labelled

Yeah there is - for everything but the connector I'm interested in


Not to worry mate, I'll wait and see what they say, and try and get a refund if they're not helpful...
