I think he was quite lucky and had a recording eight track 'home' stereo, bit like having an Mp3 player today, relatively speaking.
Still listen to them + Jimmi H and Steeleye Span....... God I´m getting old!!Alan

An eight track was an audio system that was a forerunner to the compact cassette.

It used a continuous loop tape housed in a push in cassette with 1/4" tape with 4 stereo tracks (8 track)

Very popular in the U.S. didn't fair as well here, sales started to drop around 1975.

Most of the car players were not very good :

But if you were really lucky you had a Pioneer 8 track recorder and could put your own choice of music on them :

Still quite a few for sale on e-bay U.S.

Alough it looks abit to late for a mgc, would be more suited in a mk3 cortina.

What would look realy nice in your mg would be a nice old chrome fronted radiomobile, that realy would look the biz.

That is the one my father had or still has, I remember it very well. It has a small light under the front fascia panel, I would sit there and press the 1,2,3,4 track buttons along with flashing the light on and off it was in a Cortina MKII.
