Default Which head torch (for under car working)?

Anyone recommend a good bright head torch please? I've got a couple but they're really not as bright as I'd like: certainly not as good as my Icefire hand torch which is brilliant but haven't worked out how to strap it my ears.

I bought one recently fitted with a Cree type LED. It's very bright and can be focussed to a wide or narrow angle as suits best.

eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-Bri...72.m2749.l2649

Whether it's better than any other I've no idea (my first one) but it works fine for me.
The only niggle I have is the four way button switch. One press is on at max, next press is half as bright and a third press gives a strobing light. Next press is off. Whatever you would need the half bright and flashing for I can't imagine, but I find it irksome to turn it off. So, if possible, get a Cree LED, but with a simple on-off button.

If your after really good performance, it will cost more than a few quid !

Been using a Led Lenser head torch for some time for MOT testing work among other activities. Superb and well worth the extra £ as you will not be looking to upgrade a poor performance one !

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Led-Lense....c100008.m2219

Both really good items if needed for regular use.

I find that head torches never seem to illuminate what I want.
I have a small LED torch that I generally hold in my mouth.
Not only does it make aiming the light easier it cuts down on the swearing!

Thanks for that. There are so many on the market. I like the look of this one from Screwfix, but some are £70 and more. I know my local garage use ones with a separate battery pack, presumably for longer life.

Hi all

I bought one of these off of eBay (search for LED Beanie Hat) for less than a fiver .... a chap at the last Nano meet had one and recommended it.

Rechargable via USB and it's really useful under / over the car and also has a flashing light setting if you ride a bike and want to annoy people!

Neat design. Take the light out, reverse the hat and you've got a "normal" bobble hat!

Something cheap for your Father Christmas list.....

Regards

John
