Rover 75 Connoisseur SE 2001 - front nearside speaker grill fell off
Hi.
Four of the six pegs that mount the grille to the door card are broken off. I think I will have to glue on new pegs. So I have some questions I hope someone can answer. 1. What is the normal diameter of the pegs. I did a measurement of one of the remaining pegs (5.47mm), but it had glue residue on it, so I'm not confident of the result. The important thing is to get a snug fit in the holes in the door card. 2. The second question is how long should the pegs be from the cross shaped base? (This is not too important). 3. What kind of glue is best for this job? 4. Any thoughts on where I could buy some suitable ABS plastic rod of the necessary diameter? 5. Am I going about this the wrong way? What question should I be asking Any and all help with this will be deeply appreciated. Teknon. Melbourne, Aus. |

I can send you some ABS plastic welding rod if that helps? Always better to weld plastic than try and glue it.

I suspect it will be less hassle to get a second hand grille from a scrapper than trying to fix something that's been unsuccessful already. Any 75 used parts seller can get you one. There are parts sellers on the forum. But if you do want to glue ABS, then cyanoacrylate (supergloo) works very well. I also recommend using a good brand like Locktite.
