Default Checking For A Leaking Slave Cylinder

Some while ago, I read a post from someone suggesting that perhaps an inspection hole could be drilled into the gearbox bell housing in order that a camera could be used to visually inspect the slave cylinder.

Today, whilst my engine is in a state of "undress", I was cleaning some of the more hard to reach parts of the engine bay and it occurred to me that an inspection hole already exists. On the top of the bell housing is a grommet that plugs the hole where the clutch hydraulic pipes enter. With the plug removed, there is ample room to insert a small inspection camera .

Of course, this is old news to the spanner wielding folk here, but may nonetheless be useful info for the rest of us. On the V6, the grommet can be accessed by removing the air box. Nice and simple .
