Default New M74 extension run tonight

Hi Guys
Some of the other Rover enthusiasts are doing a run along the new M74 extension just opened.
It's tonight 6th July and there are two meeting points, Hillington and Silverburn leaving at 8pm promt and finishing at the Toby Carvery car park Strathclde Park.
I know the weathers not going to be brilliant but it would be nice to see all them Rovers going along.
I will be there in my SD1 Vitesse

The new m74 runs behind my home. Infact I'm just off it after picking someone up from the airport. 20 mins from Carmyle to the airport at rush hour! Amazing!

The flight landed at 5.30pm and we were back in Carmyle at 6.00pm. Fantastic!

Enjoy the wee run tonight.

Well ! what a difference this road is going to make travelling through the south side of Glasgow.
8 Rovers managed along last night 4x SD1's 3x P6's and 1x P5. we also seen a Tomcat convertible passing us but he was not in our small company.

This is a handy thread!

I travel to Ullapool twice a year, heading up in August.

But - I'm confused. Is this new extension what was those miles & miles of roadworks with average speed cameras?

I travel up the A74(M)>M73>A80>M80>M9>A9

No, its not the bit where it has the average speed cameras. Thats the A80 which is being upgraded.

The 'NEW' M74 it the bit of road from Fullarton to the south side of the kingston bridge, passing through the south side of Glasgow.

If you were heading up the M74 and going to, say, Glasgow airport or the Erskine Bridge . You would come off the M74>M73>M8 then cross over the Kingston Bridge (M8) onto the airport. The new M74 links directly to the south end of the Kingston bridge.

This may help.

When the A80 upgrade is finished, you'll notice a big difference!

After the seven years I spent in Glasgow, they have been crying out for this M74 link,it will take the congestion off the Kingston bridge, which at peak time is an absolute nightmare.

Yeah, I'll be as old as Actross!

Thanks anyway! I love the drive up to Inverness, apart from that section of the
A80, and a simillar stretch on the A1(M).

I forgot to add in my previous post. The new part of the M74 costs £131 million per mile!

Yes and unusually it was built under budget and opened several months ahead of schedule.

Some bonus's in there for someone.

On the new M80 upgrade I travel up here frequently and already notice a difference even before some parts are unfinished.
