'm in good hands gents. One of my contacts is a mobile mechanic and a former JLR mechanic so I'm planning ahead..
One quick question. When driving the XF and you come to traffic lights and you know they will take some time, what is the best response?
You can hold the car using the brake OR Select park or select neutral and apply the handbrake. Forgive such a question but this is my first auto..

If holding for sometime I engage neutral and put on the handbrake. I have a XJ6 and once drive is engaged the electronic handbrake auto releases. To activate t he handbrake it's just a button. Not sure on an XF but would imagine it even more advanced now than the XJ

Advert no longer exists.
So, what was wrong with it?

Sound advice, the transmission fluid gets very hot, the car is trying to go, braking is holding it back, not a good scenario, handbrake on in neutral ? Most definitely.
