Default Lucky Escape!!!!! V6 Cambelts done by Marshall Performance motors.

Lucky Escape!!!!! V6 Cambelts done by Marshall Performance motors.
My lovely early V6 Cowley is currently at Marshall performance motors have the cam belt water pump and all the bearings replaced.
Chris has sent me some photos and wow I think I need to get a lottery ticket. Both idlers were shot, one was in 2 pieces. The belts… both were knackered. One was slack and the other was glazed and cracked.
These were supposed to have been done in the past.

I urge you if you don’t know when they were done to get them done as soon as possible!!!!!

Hi Josh,

Thanks very much for highlighting the reason why your belts were damaged ...

The belts may well have been done in the past but unless the tensioner and idler pulleys were renewed, any age of belt will be vulnerable.

Out of interest Josh, what's your car's mileage?

Simon

Edit: Make sure that Marshall Performance Motors is aware of the INA set-up procedure for the new tensioner pulley. It's not in any manual and they don't come "pre-set".

When you say one idler was in 2 pieces, which one and what were the pieces?

That was fortunate timing. I'm sure you will find a terrific difference.

It looks as if they lost the balls!
I am surprised it would run with those missing. It must have sounded weird?
