Well over £6,000 in the last 4 years, but everything has been done now, hopefully very little in future.

How Much Do I Spend - I'd say £T00 (much) as well.....

However - it seems I spend "£just about enough" to keep the Car on the Road

I don't keep track of the Numbers If the Car needs work and i have funds, i'll spend - if not i'll take the Car off the road until i have funds (if required)

We have five of them, in three Months i have spent £1688 on one getting it up to scratch.

I don't want to work out the total spend on all of them.

I don't really want to think about how much i've spent on parts on mine. Even less do i want to think of the labour cost if a certain someone charged me!!!
However i'm still pretty confident that it would be far less than the depreciation of a new car.

I’ve had mine just under 2 years and for work that HAD to be done I’ve spent £360. That was on a set of 4 Avon Tyres, a new Cat (bargain at £33 brand new) and a replacement MAF for £13.
Money spent on things that didn’t need doing but done anyway because I wanted to is around £1200. They include but not limited to, New wheels, SS exhaust system, leather inserts on the door cards, replacement xTrons head unit, HK system and a few engine mods.

Thought I would compile a list as a response and also for my own records. I do most things myself. Prices are approximate as my memory is awful. Question marks indicate it didn't cost me anythjng/I already owned the stuff required.

In eight months of ownership...

By Garages:

Rear sill welding both sides £150
New tyres x 3 £150
Alignments £50

By me (necessary):

Track rod ends x2 £40
Droplinks x2 £25-30
Front struts/springs/top mounts & bearings/tyre protectors x2 £200
Sticking rear caliper sorted/all brakes cleaned and greased £?
Underbonnet fuel pump £75
Deadlocked and stuck NSF door fixed £?
Sagging undertray sorted £5
Bonnet release sorted £?
Headlights (one bulb blown and all lenses restored) £7
Boot leak (flood) sorted/wheel well painted £15
New motor for stuck drivers seat £20
Oil and filters etc £25
Spyhole mod £?

By me (not necessarily necessary!):

New jacking pads - £20
New Rover emblem on boot plinth - £5
Steering wheel refurbished - £20
New interior dome light - £8
New fobs - £8
New floor mats - £25
New rear view mirror - £10
Questionable undersealing efforts - £30-40
New clutch pedal rubber £5
New drivers side window switch pack £15

Last but not least - dead insects removed from high brake light... £free!

Total? I don't want to know.

Owned CDTI for 10 years. Spent 4114 in total. That includes consumables. Mostly done by my self but in th latter years by garage friends as lieing under propped up cars isnt my fave anymore.

£112.00 for a trackrod end? Is it made of gold or platinum? Also could you tell us what make it was please?

I agree that £112 for a track rod end sounds excessive but I did say I did not do the work myself. The breakdown was £28.65 for the part (part No DLATA1849 - I don't know the make), £65 for the labour but that included identifying the noise and also a tracking adjustment afterwards. All was also subject to VAT.

Well... I am almost embarrassed to say but the ZT-T (affectionately known as Brutus) has had "some" issues due to lack of maintenance from the previous owner and I had to invest several thousands pounds in it to get it mechanically and electrically sound. The TCO so far is about 10K GBP. The Rover on the other hand has been looked after by the previous owner. Including purchase I estimate I invested around 4K GBP. Note that cars in the Netherlands are more expensive than in the UK.

This year however both cars (and the MGF) are due for new timing belts so it is going to be an "interesting" year

Would I part with the cars? No way!! Whether I drive Brutus or the 75 you will never see me without a huge big grin on my face. Gosh... these cars are simply great and a pleasure to drive. Call me stupid
