Recently had both rear springs and upper arms changed on our ZTT but had to pay the garage to do it as jacking up the rear safely remains a mystery.

Sorry cant help further but good fortune lol

There is a "towing eye" centre rear that can be used to jack up but then put axle stands under the rear jacking pads and let the car rest on the axle stands

I've got a broken one, although at the top. From the rusty ends he reckons it's been like it for some time. Anyway, I'll be getting both done, they don't cost that much.

The damper can also easily be released by undoing it in the boot. Roll bar link can be a pain if threads are rusty. I have removed the lower arm to hub bolt when doing mine.
So in short my method is release damper in boot, upper arm to hub bolt and roll bar link and then release the spring...

I take it concensus is loosening the subframe is better?

That occurred to ours, the roll bar linkage was not coming off even at the garage and so opted to have a new upper arm at same time the broken spring was replaced on that ns from the pot hole event. It was about ready the arm anyway and spring n arm on other side was needed for the earlier mot anyway so dug deep to complete the rear renewal. since then i can put stuff in th eback without securing it and it stays still unlike before.

Just a query, but can the spring be removed by firstly removing the shock absorber from the top instead of from the bottom incase of difficult to remove bottom shock absorber bolt?

Just wondering if this is an alternative way to remove the spring?
