Fitted my BMW hybrid widescreen tuner, bought one a while back that turned out defective with no TV output, so ended up having to buy another one.

I don't know why the widescreen set up was never installed on the R75/ZT as it must have been contemporaneous with the BMW E46 etc.

I could probably have bought a modern, all singing and dancing set up for the cost of the BM24, Mk4 drive, widescreen monitor and TV tuner but I don't have any digital downloads and the like and it's not that often I go anywhere that I need to use sat-nav so the OEM set up is quite adequate for me.

New (used) underbonnet fuel pump fitted yesterday. Fitted again today due to a slight leak from bottom hose using some 13-15mm fuel line clips as recommended by Arctic. Thanks. Solved the problem.

Hi Andrew.
Great always good to keep a good known used pump (pierburg) in the boot just in case, all you need to do now is sort out that poor after market pump i have said before i would always go for a good known used UBP (pierburg) before ever buying an after market UBP pump, no matter how much warranty came with it, hopefully you will get your money back and you can use for something else

Hi Arctic, yes I have two spare pierburgs now so I will just store them both in the boot along with the tools required for a change. Won't take up much space. I spoke to the supplier and, as I did not want a replacement pump, they offered to credit my account with the cost of the aftermarket pump. I thought this was agreeable as I will no doubt need to purchase other parts in the future

Top marks to Rimmers though I rang them as soon as it arrived, they said no problem, "will send out another out", arrived two days later.... top customer service

Cheers

Their customer service is impressive.
I bought a pair of MGF door cards from their stupidly cheap sale and one came with the wrong colour insert.
They sent a replacement via UPS no questions asked. And I am in Canada.
They didn't make any money on that order!
(Looking at my order history though they have done quite well off me over the years)

Hi Andrew.
Out come not to bad then only the inconvenience of it failing in such a short time and having to replace it, also seeing you changed it out no labour charge, for those whom can not change it out they would also be out of pocket by about £50 for labour.

Good luck on what ever else you purchase, service parts maybe

Doing a job not with the car but for the car. I've flatted , then primed with red oxide primer and I'm now giving two coats of black Smoothright to my new rear arms from DMGRS. Once dry they will be getting some cavity wax inside . I've ordered 4 bolts and 2 nuts for the arms from Rimmer Bros at a cost of £30.24 with postage including someone getting out of their seat opening a few doors and getting them from a shelf ( I think it's called picking )

As I haven't got the energy to fit them myself I'm getting Dave Johnson to fit them for me , but they will show up the rust on the subframe. I don't want the hassle of dropping the subframe as I'm still suffering the effects of long Covid , I want to use a wire brush on a drill to clean it up as best I can and treat the rust with a rust killer.

Has anyone got any recommendations of a product to treat it with before painting . I know it would be best to remove it and get it blasted but I'd rather do something to slow things down than just leave it.

Replaced rear brake calipers, discs, pads, shoes and hoses with the help of a friend. Both our brains baked in the afternoon sun but very pleased when all done. As for the backplates, they were pretty solid in most places but let's just say I was massively relieved I'd bought brake shoe hold down washers.

The new zt has a wet boot so first port of call was the rear light seals, not to be disappointed I found this, I then cleaned the lot off , new seals and refitted, job done. 😀.
