Bodged Roger sat nav mount.
My sat nav died but have second Fiat one mate gave me. One mount fitted into ZS a couple of years ago (fitted to panel on top of dash)
Nowhere to put it in ZTT so major surgery on mount and mod to stereo surround

Not bad for a bodge

Replaced both rear springs (2001 2.5 V6 Saloon)
Very satisfying!
Details in current "Broken rear spring" thread.
Regards to all

Default Auto fluid changed at last

Today the weather was perfect for a rumble in the jungle and tackle the fluid change. Followed ‘beinet1’s routine to the letter. Only prob I had was removing the ‘W’ hose from the cooler. (late cooler design) Had to come back here for advice which I found.
Swapped out 8 litres of brown cloudy fluid for 8 litres of lovely clear liquid red n402.

Another job of the list for a few years!!

Next is a full brake pipe, fluid and hose change in a couple weeks!!

Basically couldn’t get it off!! Saw 4 retainers and thought there’s more to this than meets the eye. Then I learnt of the collar that has to be pushed up and hey presto!! It all worked as described in the how to!

No photos I’m afraid as I had messy hands most of the time but many photos on here by others to assist in the operation.

A very satisfying day nevertheless!!

Thanks to all contributors here!!

Finally got around to getting the PS leak sorted, well, got someone else to do it! Knackered rack seals.
Replacement rack is now in and a couple of other bits seem to have been fixed as well.

Knew the front tracking was out, but the road noise off the front end is now minimal so it must have been miles out.
That incredibly irritating exhaust rattling on the heat shields on start up, shut down and alternate speed bumps and pot holes is now silent!
Result!

Managed to finish the painting and cavity waxing of my new rear arms ready to have them fitted to the tourer in a couple of weeks. I also noticed I had a small split in my alternator belt which was only replaced last year ! As the original belt was still in the boot and was like new, I thought I'd dig out the aviation spanner that I had bought for this very job. Trying to get it to fit required lots of grinding to get it to clear the inner wing before it released the belt with difficulty. Trying to fit the replacement became impossible with the spanner as it kept fouling the subframe and then the 24mm bolt came loose !

By this point I'd had enough, so I made a call to the ' People's Republic of North Tyneside' and their Supreme Leader, who is no long of this parish, duly arrived with a new Gates belt and the correct MGR tool that makes the job a relative breeze.

Today using a piece of wood to restrict the movement of the tensioner , I used the tool to tighten the 24mm left handed bolt in the centre and didn't need to try to get a 13mm down the back before it nipped up perfectly . Once the faff of trying to keep the belt in the grooves of the pulley's was mastered, using the tool, the belt was fitted

A huge thank you to a truly great friend to myself and many of us on here who makes running these cars worth the effort.
