Hi Andy , the rear silencer is a Bosal I think with the oval rear box. The strap wraps around and bolts at the side and are not available on their own. I found some tubing so I flattened it and drilled some holes in both ends and managed to clamp it to the remains of the top of the broken clamp. It should do until I can come up with a better repair. The one on the tourer isn’t far behind with corrosion !

Started to change my Timing belt out on my 1.8 this morning, got the belt removed ready to renew . To keep my self occupied to lunch time decided to pre prep my O/S/F bottom arm ready to replace as outer ball joint has slight play in it !
Within half an hour had both rear bush bolts slackened , bottom pinch bolt undone and inner taper undone and released with 3 hits with a 7lb lump hammer , (took longer to find the hammer) Just need to replace now but will probably wait to timing belt replaced and top engine mount secured . One thing I have noted is that the front pulley rubber damper is just starting to deteriorate , Last edited by TourerSteve; 11th July 2021 at 11:35.. |

Handbrake compensator, Tick
For the second time in my rover car/s ownership I have completed this $%^&*^ awkward task.
I used a stainless shackle this time instead of welding. Much better result!!! Looks identical to one of Arctic’s replacement. My main difference is the bushing was drilled out and discarded and a 10mm shouldered bolt cut down and used as a replacement complete with an aero nut so it wont come apart. Now to whip in some new shoes and adjustment for that perfect handbrake !!!! Also got around to correcting a mis-installed front passenger seatbelt. It was installed twisted from the factory one complete turn!! Always a giggle watching passengers fumbling and trying to straighten out an impossibly twisted belt!! :-)

Pre MOT check. Changed oil and filters. Repaired rattly heat shield (soooo quiet!). Swapped tyres around. Thoroughly enjoyed the "test drive"! Must book test before end of month!

Removing the orange foam from the headlining is an awful job, I have just done 4 door cards and that was bad enough!

Hi Scott another way to transport the head lining is to put it on the roof lining down and then lash it down through open windows, once lashed down send the windows back up again
