Well you obviously used the right size socket !
Take it the new one back in with plenty of cooper grease
What Make of arm have you used, I'm impressed with the quality of SKF arm and bush i bought

Also changing cambelt , Found pulley damper to be breaking down so waiting for new one to arrive , so time to do a bit of refurb

Dropped off some paperwork this evening and couldn't resist a photo showing just how well suited the 75 was to their property.

Car failed the MOT yesterday with lots of corrosion around the sills/jacking points. Not giving up on her just yet though. I plan to get myself on a welding course later this year and have a go at repairs before consigning her to the scrappy. have spent too much time/effort so far (and have 4 boxes of spares in the attic). it will just have to be a long term project to get her road-worthy again, as long as the rot isnt extensive inside

The one on the tourer isn’t far behind with corrosion !
Hi Pete.
Is this not any good to you, or is it the bottom half you are after.

I made this up when i needed to sort mine out until i got a back box which came with a strap.

Thanks Arctic, the Rimmer Bros part is for the clamshell type silencer by the looks of it and your homemade version is more the shape I'm after. My temp repair involved drilling a hole in the flatted pipe that I used, that was large enough to fit over the metal bar that passes into the rubber support so that the flattened bar hangs on the bracket and can't drop. I then drilled a hole in the other side, bent it to shape and bolted it to the remains of the top clamp but I'm planning to make a similar part to hook over this other side bracket and clamp the two parts together with a bolt.

I think this will outlive the silencer and as the tourer has the same exhaust silencer, I'm going to measure the dimensions and make another. It just seems a shame you can't buy the part and would have to buy a new exhaust for a separate part.

I decided to remove the rear nearside wheelarch plastic cover and see what was under the cover. Very little dirt, and small amount of surface rust towards the rear of the wheelarch body. Nothing really. Cleaned the dirt off and covered it in Waxoyle and also did the upper arm again. And covered the lower arm in Waxoyle.Replaced the plastic cover, and jobs a good one. Will do the same on the other side tomorrow if the weather is ok. Quite enjoy faffing about and seeing what is going on underneath..

Helped the FIL change the starter motor on his diesel tourer.
Thankfully read Arctic’s “how to” previously, which helped a lot. Pity that photobucket has hijacked the photos.😢
That rear securing bolt proved difficult to access with all the coolant pipes and electrical loom in the way, but got it eventually!
