Default Infected by a Virus and it not Swine flu!

Our laptop which we use for listing/forum etc has become infected by "Personal Antivius" which is blocking everything we try to do unless we buy the programme, I have tried downloading a few antivirus programmes off the net but nothing seems to work.

Any idea anyone bearing in mind I know nothing about computers?

Hi Les,

This is a troublesome lil blighter !! but a format is too extreme if you have lots of info to backup and keep.

As you may be online again, it will be worthwhile downloading the MALWARWEBYTES removal tool..

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php is a start, theres a lot of sites saying they have a tool to remove this one .. many find it and then want payment to remove it !.. much like the virus itself ..

But it could pop up again at any time so best run a few proggies to check
If you can do a google on it and you will find loads of removal tools/ info.
If you can't get online , a manual removal is very complicated.

Best get someone to download a tool for you.

hope this helps a bit ... I've had this one before too!

take care chris

Hi Les it could be a root kit virus, you would be well advised to have a specialist check it over,,,

I have left a message with a specialist to call me back and come over and check all our computers, it's working fine right now so I'm happy
