Angry Adrian Flux ******* Unbelievable !!!

Good Morning All,
I'm having a bad week and its just got worse!! Bad enough RJ being off the road because it keeps cutting out (see technical help) So I took the offer of a loan of a van from a friend who has a van hire business on condition that I insured it. Fine I thought, no problem, very kind of him.

So, I'm on the phone to Messrs Flux and going into great detail about where it was going, what colour toilet paper they used etc they then tell me that they can't insure a van on a temporary basis! Surely every customer at my pals garage must hire them on a temporary basis, where do they get cover from?

My policy is due for renewal next month, guess what!!!

Doesn't your own insurance policy cover you for driving other vehicles?

Thats what I thought Paul, most policies do that now on a third party basis.

Adrian Flux can be a bit funny sometimes!

A good friend of mine was with them when he bought his T16 turbo converted 200 BRM. He sold the car and bought a ZS180, thinking that it would be a bit more responsible, and save a lot on his insurance.

He called them up to change the details of the car, and they proceeded to tell him that they couldn't cover the ZS, as it wasn't modified!

He told them that he was going to fit a performance panel filter, and they covered him with no problems. Bizzare.

I would check your own policy wording...most company's allow you to drive any other motor vehicle not owned by you or leased to you under a hire purchase agreement. providing you are fully comp on your own policy.

but your cover is reduced to third party fire and theft.

Remember that Flux are a broker, not an insurer, your policy will be with another company... might just be something in the policy you have that means it can't be extended to a commercial vehicle.

There's a couple of places that do day insurance, RAC or Norwhich Union both do.

You can do from 1 to 31 days, last time I picked up my ZT, it was £12 for the day.

You had better check your policy as i borrowed a car from the garage whilst my commercial vehicle was in for service last year as we had done for years, we were backed into and then discovered that a commercial policy does not cover any vehicle like a domestic policy does.
