Never seem to have much luck with real trees, always stop taking water.
Fortunately the tarp done the job and a brush got the rest out. The boots the cleanest part of the car at the moment 😄

Decided to wash the 2.5 Connie yesterday. Held up by visitors, so finished doing the wheels today. Did 1,000 miles and averaged 25.6 mpg. Quite pleased as I only do a few miles a journey now. Two longish runs . One of 230 miles and 54 miles, so not to bad I think.Car done 111,000 miles now.

Changed a noisy rear wheel bearing, only to find it was a noisy front bearing, ahh well, a job for another day.

I started 2022 out right by doing a couple of small jobs on the ZT-T.
My order from Rick-Sta arrived on New Year's Eve so I installed my new illuminated shift knob in place of the tired original, and swapped out the side indicators for a pair of sequential LED indicators.
Nice easy jobs to start the new year, and as a bonus both work very well.



BTW: The lighting in the knob is actually a nice warm amber but the phone camera wouldn't cooperate.

Default Plenums..again

Cleaned the plenums on both the Silver Machine and Green Goddess, amazing how quickly they clog up, mind you I have to cope with two twin evils..I live in Rainy Manchester and my avenue is full of trees!

Its a nearly monthly job this time of year!

Default Oil Change (Diesel)

I decided to do a quick oil change on the NUK today (diesel) dry few hours so took car for an d10 miles run the get engine up to temp.

Came back home car on ramps and removed the undertray ready to drop the now hot oil.

First i loosened the oil filter cap.

Next i dropped the oil

Once the oil had drained i undid the filter cap completely, and let the rest of the oil drain down.

Then remove the oil filter.

I then got the new oil filter and clean cap ready.

Wiped out the oil pot, with some old rags.

The new filter could now be fitted.

Add some new oil to the O-rings on the cap and fit into the the pot.

Do it hand tight making sure it's not cross threaded.

last nip it up with a ratchet to the 25Nm

Now you can fit a new sump plug and alloy washer.

Tighten up the sump plug.

Next fill with 6.5 ltrs of oil.

Refit the under tray, and drop the car of the ramps.

Let the engine run for about 5 minutes then turn off clear up and test the level after about 15 minutes top up if you need to.

Fitted a new dash cam to mine and went for a wee drive with the wife for some chips at the seaside.

Sunny and mild as forecast so I was able to change the automatic transmission fluid as per Beinet1's excellent How-To. First time for ages that a job went perfectly! I'd prepped with 1 metre of 12mm plastic pipe for the pump-out via the oil cooler, made sure the filler funnel fitted inside the small filler hole on top of the gearbox, laid thick cardboard under the car, and went through the steps sequentially. My only slight concern had been sliding the pipe off the stud on the oil cooler as some people have had difficulties with it, but it popped off after 5 careful minutes of figuring out how the release clip worked! 7.75 litres changed. The old stuff was well stinky!

Also took the front bumper off & changed the intercooler O-rings as one had popped out and the other had dropped down inside (I found it). Then changed the headlight & indicator bulbs to better ones, put it all back together including the undertray which has been off for a couple of months, and decided I'd plenty of time and inclination left to change the front discs and pads seeing as everything had gone swimmingly! Finished at 3:30pm & took the car for a 10-mile run. Transmission is soo much better now - night & day really.

So a very productive and enjoyable day clearing the list I thought I'd not get near for a while.
