Default Tourer water in the boot

loads of threads about water in the boot but not seen one with this problem for a Tourer.

The water is getting between the tailgate and roof, running down the hinge, the side that is now facing forwards. The water then runs over the rubber seal and drips into the boot. When I lift the tail gate I can see water on the face of the hinge.

Along the back of the roof between roof and tailgate should be a plastic trim, mines is not fitted. What does this plastic trip do? I cant see this being the problem so what is the fix?

I still have the strip fitted but mine has reduced the size slightly so no longer a good fit. But I do not have a leakage problem. I replaced the seal a number of years ago and had to take great care to get it nicely in place all the way around. There is no doubt that the seals loose their resilience with time and therefore do not press as hard, hence I would put forward, why yours leak.
