New Rover 1.8 Turbo Estate Purchased!
I have bought another Rover 75 1.8 Turbo Connoisseur SE. It's in the unusual Odyssey Blue colour with Black leather trim. The VIN number is just a few digits away from my present 1.8 Turbo and they were both registered on the same day with the same SA53 starting numberplate. How's that for coincidence? Both cars purchased in Scotland.
It drove back very nicely, so hopefully this one should be ok. Can't be so many 1.8 Turbo Estates left on the road now. However, sadly, this means I am going to have to sell my Rover 75 Diesel Saloon, which I never really intended to do. Just need to find a good home for it. I'll be listing it on the for sale section soon with more details/photo etc. I'd just got it MOT'd and got all the rear suspension arms replaced. This one was going to be a keeper, but, I can't! I haven't room for three Rover 75s and we need the Estate cars for our dogs. Would like it to go to a club member, rather than end up as a cheap banger for someone. |

Many thank for the nice comments.
Thought I would just give you a quick up date on how the first couple of months went. It's amazing just what you have to do and how much you have to spend getting a new old car as you want it ! First job, new genuine radiator cap, the old one was well iffy ! Next, not really needed, but both number plates were replaced, the rear one was just a standard shape instead of the proper one, and the front one was grotty. Next, there was a noise when turning the steering, and it felt notchy, so took it to my regular garage, Rope Walk Garage in Skipton, who found the O/S top strut bearing was knackered. Also one of the upper rear suspension arms was rotten. So items sourced and fitted. The steering wheel was really worn, so I managed to locate a mint one off ebay. Next job was to drop it off at Jules in Colwyn bay for the Revotec cooling fan up-grade, as I'm convinced most of the head gasket problems are down to overheating due to cooling fan failure. I got this done on my other K series tourer a couple of years or so ago, no overheating since. Whilst it was with Jules, he sorted out the handbrake which was in a dangerous state, fitted the front spring protectors, wheel arch hatches, front door solenoid and stay, two new horns, the one on sounded like my Vespa one, put on my new steering wheel, sorted the bonnet catch, and emptied a lake out of the plenum drains ! The steering had developed another fault, kicking back on full lock, Jules put this down to worn auxillary belts, would never of though of that, but no kickback now! Cheers Jules ! The exhaust system is well past its best, so that will be next, when the bank balance has recovered and I have managed to locate one. So that is where we are with it up to date ! Getting there ! One word for that vehicle - premium. Sounds like it's getting the treatment too.

Glad you like it ! Yes it will be getting sorted gradually, not that it is really bad, but I've got a 'to do' list ! The Scottish winters have taken their toll underneath, so some rust treatment will be done when it gets a bit warmer !
