Default A ping with a pong, Apparently.

In the news today: ‘Britons are deleting the NHS Covid app in droves to avoid being told to isolate’.
Some company bosses are claiming this as a result of staff unrest at being told they must self-isolate after being pinged. Even NHS staff are falling foul of this and there are serious fears of repercussions for hospitals if they do what is required. Just as serious as what happens if they don’t. Over 500,000 were contacted last week and were told by the NHS app to self-isolate.

I’m curious. If you are pinged as having been in contact with someone, sometime, somewhere, are you notified who the original pinger was or given any information about where the contact that just might have been the source of your infection?

Note: Are you required to self-isolate whether infected or not? Also, just as an afterthought, honest, if your app shows you out and about after being pinged, are you likely to get a knock at your door to see if you are in? If your phone can be pinged, can it also be located? Are we sure?

This was discussed on the Jeremy vine radio show today.
All sorts of problems. People being considered as having been in contact when in fact they live next door. No I dont think you get told who was tested as positive.

When you think beyond the immediate presentation, to the the cost of groups of experts devising these things, the time spent in meetings, travel, expenses and all the rest of it, then to see it fall apart because of foreseeable critical failures, I'm afraid the alleged collective wisdom is exposed for what it is.

Multiply by whatever factor you can think of for the numerous experiments that never get publicised and think of the waste of public money there must be that never sees the light of day. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence does it.
